What are MENDS?
๐ ๐๐ก๐๐ฆ (Microscopic Epidermal Necrotic Debris) are tiny brown spots that show up after your ๐ ๐ข๐ซ๐, ๐๐๐๐ข & ๐๐๐๐ข ๐ง๐ฅ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ treatments as your skin begins its renewal process. These look like little "coffee grounds" or scabs and are totally normal, totally expected and a sign that your skin is working its magic. ๐ช And trust us when we say itโs ๐ฌ๐ค๐ง๐ฉ๐ ๐๐ฉ. Just ask our NP Jessica, who tried it for herself. These are her real results after only one MOXI Plus treatment!
These sand-like spots appear 1โ3 days after ablative laser treatments (MOXI/HALO) as part of the skin's healing process, lasting 3โ10 days. They represent the purging of damaged pigment and cellular debris. MENDs are NOT a side effect; theyโre a sign of progress! Over the next few days, youโll notice these little โcoffee groundโ specks naturally shedding, revealing smoother, brighter, more even-toned skin underneath.
Treat your skin gently
Treat your skin gently, avoid scrubbing or trauma to the treated area. Use a gentle cleanser with lukewarm water to cleanse the face and gently pat the treated skin dry until it heals. Only use cleansers and serums that have been approved by your provider for the first 24-48 hours. Always be sure that your hands are clean when touching the treated area
Redness is normal Redness is normal and expected. Redness generally increases in intensity the first few days after treatment with day 3 being most intense. Redness can persist for up to 7 days depending on the aggressiveness of the treatment. The treated area may also be extremely warm for 12-24 hours. Let's talk about the swelling ๐ฌ
Immediately after treatment, swelling is common and expected.ย ย The first morning post treatment is when swelling is more prevalent, especially under the eyes. Swelling may last 2-4 days, with the turning point being around day 4. Keep in mind that swelling with Halo Tribrid will be more intense since it is a more aggressive treatment. We recommend sleeping with your head elevated for the first few days, such as using two pillows, to help minimize swelling. Use of a cold compress or ice packs will help to relieve the swelling. *We also recommend Zyrtec once daily, Pepcid 20mg twice a day and Benadryl at bedtime to ย help to relieve the swelling*
Don't stress it!
Pinpoint bleeding may occur. This can last for a few hours - 12 hours depending on the treatment depth and may be isolated to certain treated areas.
Breakouts Can Happen Itโs also important to note that temporary breakouts can occur after treatment. As the skin heals and renews itself, some patients may experience congestion or acne-like flare-ups. This is typically short-lived and part of the skinโs recovery process. Keeping the skin clean, avoiding picking, and following your post-care instructions can help support proper healing.
Important Notes:
As Moxi is a milder treatment, downtime and swelling will be less
Itching may be experienced during the healing phase and is completely normal.
Avoid baths/showers that are too warm, saunas and steam rooms for at least 48 hours
Avoid exercise or strenuous activity for 48 hours post-treatment
Daily SPF is essential once your provider clears you to resume sunscreen use.ย
Results continue to improve over the following weeks as collagen production increases
