What your skin says about your health

Updated: Sep 29, 2022

So often you will hear us say in the clinic that your skin is a manifestation of what is going on inside your body. Having healthy, glowing, and radiant skin depends on what you are doing to take care of yourself on the inside.

This is true with anyone that has any skin concern but especially true with acne. Most of the patients that walk into our doors complaining of acne have gut issues as well, and when there are gut issues there are skin issues. If the gut is inflamed then the skin is inflamed.

Let that sink in for a minute... Acne is an inflammatory problem and when our diet and lifestyle consist of inflammatory foods and choices acne will often show up on our skin. Having great skin and a healthy body isn't a "one size fits all" solution so when you come into the clinic we will sit down with you and go over everything from what you are currently using to what you are eating, how much water you are drinking, what your sleep is like, what supplements and medications you are taking and what lifestyle choices you are making that might be contributing to your skin and your overall health. We use a holistic approach in everything we do at Glow Envy Med Spa which is why we are able to help you clear your acne and achieve your skincare goals. Your plan is customized to you specifically which is why it works.

In the meantime though here are a few tips to help you:

  • Stay away from processed foods

  • Get enough sleep

  • Eat more fruits and vegetables

  • Drink more water and ditch the sugar drinks

  • Don't scrub or over-exfoliate your skin

  • Don't use harsh chemicals that dry your skin out without the guidance of a professional

  • Stay away from biotin

  • Ditch the dairy, whey, and soy in your diet.
